N.Y. inmate denied dental floss sues for $500M

How Ridiculous?

A group of prisoners in New York are suing the department of corrections, alleging that the department doesn’t provide dental floss to inmates.  The suit, which seeks $500 million in damages, claims that other prisons sell “inmate-friendly” floss.  According to the Journal News, “The National Commission on Correctional Health Care, an accreditation organization that sets standards on inmate care, said dental floss can pose security problems. Inmates can use it to attack other prisoners, while some have used it in escape attempts by trying to saw through jail bars.”
